At this point I suggested that it's probably cheaper to upgrade with an entirely new rig.ġ) What is your budget? Under $500 ideally. After looking at upgrade options, the INTEGRATED GPU would have been the next immediate major bottleneck. Her current setup was bottlenecked by RAM (2.5GB where AutoCAD recommends at least 4GB). Her current laptop is very dated and when AutoCAD was installed, the program ran painfully laggy (it was determined to be "unuseable" by reasonable standards).
She's basically looking for a mobile workstation laptop with a strict budget. My knowledge of laptop hardware is somewhat limited, and workstation hardware even more so. I'm actually posting this for a friend who came to me for advice.
I'm seeking more up to date advice - I'm guessing many of the rigs that were posted in the previous threads are half the price they were at the time. Before I start, I realize that there are many similar threads but most are dated over 5 years ago and we all know how much hardware changes in just 1 year's time.
